Privacy Policy

InstantPrice ("we," "us," or "our") is a free pricing intelligence tool that generates market-based valuations for pre-owned items using publicly available comparable sales data. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, and protect information when you use our website and Service.

By using the Service, you agree to the practices described in this Policy.

InstantPrice does not require you to create an account or submit any personal information to request a valuation.

Valuation Inputs

When you request a valuation, you submit a device profile (such as brand, model, storage, carrier, and condition). This information is used solely to generate your valuation and is not linked to your identity.

Usage Data

We may collect basic, anonymized log data such as general device type, browser type, and timestamps. This data is used for security monitoring, debugging, and understanding how the Service is used in aggregate. We do not link this data to individual users.

Selling Service Information

If you choose to sell an item through InstantPrice, you provide your first name, phone number, zip code, and your preference for the type of transaction, such as mail-in or local. This information is collected only if you opt into a selling service. It is not required to obtain a valuation.

Buyer Payment Information

The Service is free for sellers. Buyers who participate in the local selling service may owe commissions to InstantPrice on matched transactions. Commission payments are processed by a third-party payment processor (currently Stripe), which collects and handles payment card details and billing information directly under its own terms and privacy policy. InstantPrice does not collect, store, or have access to full payment card numbers. We may receive limited transaction metadata from the processor (such as transaction ID, amount, date, and the last four digits of the card) for our own records and reconciliation purposes.

No Account Data

We do not require account creation, and we do not collect email addresses or passwords in connection with standard use of the Service. If you contact us directly (e.g., via email), we will retain that correspondence to respond to your inquiry.

We use the information we collect for the following purposes:

• To generate valuations and operate the Service
• To monitor for fraud, abuse, or unusual traffic patterns
• To debug issues and maintain Service performance
• To improve the Service based on aggregate, anonymized usage patterns
• To match sellers with buyback partners or local buyers when a seller opts in
• To facilitate selling transactions selected by the user
• To communicate with users about their listings or selected selling service

We do not use any information for advertising, behavioral profiling, or any purpose unrelated to providing the Service or facilitating services you choose.

InstantPrice may offer optional selling services after a valuation. These services are voluntary and are not required to receive a valuation.

Mail-In Buyback Referrals

If you select a mail-in buyback offer, you are redirected to a third-party buyback partner's website to complete the transaction with that partner. InstantPrice does not transmit your personal information to the mail-in buyback partner. The partner may receive only the general device category you selected based on the link you arrived through. Any further information you provide is entered directly on the partner's site, and that partner's own privacy policy governs further data handling. InstantPrice may receive a referral commission from the partner.

Local Selling Service

If you choose the local selling option, InstantPrice locates an independent local buyer who agrees to honor the valuation. Local buyers are independent third parties. They are not affiliated with, employed by, controlled by, or service providers acting on behalf of InstantPrice.

To arrange the local transaction, we share the seller's first name, phone number, zip code, device information, and meetup preference, such as buyer travels to seller or seller travels to buyer, with the matched buyer. We also provide the buyer's contact details to the seller. Once introduced, the seller and buyer transact directly, and InstantPrice is not a party to the transaction. InstantPrice may receive a commission from the buyer in some cases. There is no charge to the seller.

Because local buyers are independent third parties, their handling of seller information after introduction is not controlled by InstantPrice. You should exercise normal caution when meeting or communicating with any third party.

By submitting your phone number through a selling service, you consent to be contacted by InstantPrice and by the matched buyer or partner regarding the transaction. Communications may include phone calls and SMS text messages. Standard message and data rates may apply. You may opt out of further InstantPrice communications by contacting hello@instantprice.com, or by replying STOP to any SMS message from us.

We do not share personal information with third-party partners or local buyers in connection with passive use of the Service (i.e., simply requesting a valuation).

We do not sell, rent, or trade your information.

Buyback Partners and Matched Local Buyers

If you opt into a selling service, we share information with buyback partners or matched local buyers as described in Section 04. This sharing is limited to what is needed to facilitate the selected service.

Service Providers

We work with a small number of trusted infrastructure providers (such as hosting services) who assist in operating the Service. These providers are permitted to use information only as necessary to perform services on our behalf and are bound by confidentiality obligations.

Legal Requirements

We may disclose information if required to do so by law, court order, or government request, or if we believe in good faith that disclosure is necessary to protect the rights, property, or safety of InstantPrice, our users, or the public.

Business Transfers

If InstantPrice is acquired by or merges with another company, information we hold may be transferred as part of that transaction.

Because we do not collect personal information when you request a standard valuation, there is no personal data to retain or delete in connection with standard valuations.

Anonymized log data is retained only as long as necessary for operational and security purposes.

Selling service information, including name, phone number, zip code, device details, and match records, is retained for a reasonable period to support the transaction, resolve disputes, and meet record-keeping needs. After that period, it is deleted or anonymized. You may request deletion of this information at any time as described in Section 09.

If you contact us directly, we retain that correspondence for as long as reasonably necessary to respond and maintain records of the interaction.

We implement reasonable technical and organizational safeguards to protect against unauthorized access, disclosure, or misuse of any data we hold.

No method of electronic transmission or storage is 100% secure. While we take data protection seriously, we cannot guarantee absolute security.

We may use cookies or similar technologies for basic session functionality and to understand aggregate usage patterns. We do not use cookies to track individual users across sites or to serve advertising.

You can configure your browser to refuse cookies. Core Service functionality (requesting a valuation) does not depend on cookies.

Valuations remain anonymous, and we do not collect personal information when you request a valuation. For anonymous valuation activity, most data rights (access, correction, deletion) are not applicable in the traditional sense because the information is not linked to your identity.

If you use a selling service, you may request access to, correction of, or deletion of your selling service information by contacting us at hello@instantprice.com.

Residents of certain U.S. states may have additional rights regarding their personal information under applicable state privacy laws, including rights to access, correct, delete, or obtain a copy of their data, and the right to opt out of certain types of data processing. If you have contacted us directly and wish to request deletion of that correspondence, please reach out and we will accommodate reasonable requests.

The Service is intended for general audiences and is not directed at children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children.

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we do, we will revise the Last Updated date at the top of this page. Continued use of the Service after any changes constitutes your acceptance of the updated Policy.
